This week, a member of our DGB team living outside of Boston had the opportunity to participate in a post-election Town Hall event featuring Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey and Massachusetts Congresswoman Katherine Clark.
“I knew my elected officials were pretty rad on paper, but I had no idea how inspired I would feel after meeting them and hearing them speak passionately about their commitment to progress and inclusivity. They were articulate on the spot, strong as hell, and ready to fight for us.”
This is one of the reasons we at DGB encourage you to attend events where you can hear elected officials, whom you admire, speak. Even if you’re perfectly satisfied with their record, meeting them can move you to action and even make you feel safer in this uncertain political climate. Who knows, it might even inspire you to run for office.
Jane DoeGB goes on to say:
“Katherine Clark took an audience question about whether contacting elected officials really does anything and she was adamant that it works. She spoke at length about our role as 'agitators' in this incoming administration and how every small action matters. I was emboldened on behalf of DGB and all the people who utilize our advice every day.”
So there you have it from a sitting member of Congress: we are making a difference and we must never stop fighting and looking forward.
