Your DGB for today is to support the victims of the terrorist attack that took place on Tuesday in New York.
On Halloween, a 29 year old man drove into a crowd of people in New York City, tragically killing eight people and injuring 12. The suspect is in custody and has been charged with a federal terrorism charge.
There are quite a few different ways you can support the victims of this terrorist attack. You can donate blood. Blood is always needed, but particularly in a time of crisis. Even if you don’t live in NYC, donating blood is always helpful. You can donate to local counseling centers that victims and witnesses to the tragedy will rely on to recover. VCS Inc is a great place to start. You can also donate to local NYC schools, as two staff members and two students were victims of the attack. Students and faculty will need counseling during this time, and you can ensure that there are funds to provide it by donating here: https://www.fundforpublicschools.org/. And lastly, you can help by not falling into the trap of hateful rhetoric and blaming an entire religion for the actions of a few. The Muslim community is grieving, just as the country is grieving, and it’s important that we don’t let our President and his supporters turn us against each other during this national tragedy.
