Pennsylvania Inmates Books

A new policy disallows the sending of written materials to incarcerated individuals in Pennsylvania correctional facilities. In order to have access to reading material, inmates must first purchase a nearly $150 tablet and then pay a private company for e-books. Placing financial barriers on quality of life and the opportunity to rehabilitate and self-educate is, frankly, inhuman and inherently racist. The only people this serves are those who stand to profit from prisons or the selling of access to reading material.

Your DGB for this weekend is to read this article explaining the new policy, follow this site working to continue reading access, and send a message to the Pennsylvania DOC registering your concerns.
