Time’s Up on The Hill

Your DGB for today is to contact Congress and tell them that we refuse to pay for their sexual harassment settlements.

Back in December, when the #MeToo movement was really starting to ramp up, we learned about at least four members of Congress who had sexually harassed women, and a few of them who paid off those sexual harassment victims with taxpayer money. Funny how we can’t find the money to pay for school books in low income areas, but we can easily pay for Congress members to have staffers be on “redhead patrol.” Weird.

Senator Gillibrand (D-NY) worked to pass legislation that would end the taxpayer funding of sexual harassment, but oddly it was cut at the last minute from the omnibus bill that is set to be voted on in the House on Thursday. It’s almost like men in the House and Senate don’t want us to know how many of them follow in our President’s footsteps. It’s not too late though! They still haven’t voted and we can still demand they add the legislation back into the omnibus bill. It is our right to know what we are paying for, and we sure as hell shouldn’t be paying for members of Congress to continue to sexually harass and victimize women. We aren’t putting up with this shit anymore and it’s got to stop at The Hill if we expect it to stop in our own work environments. Use your preferred contact method and tell your Congress Members to add the Congressional Harassment Reform Act back into the omnibus bill because Time’s Up for them too.
