New Year's Resolution

Resolve To Grab Back

01-01ResolveToGrabBack.jpg

We are all hopeful that 2019 will be the year the law finally catches up to Donald Trump. And, don’t get us wrong, it will be something to celebrate. However, the process of undoing the damage his administration has wrought will take many years and continued public engagement. We must never go back to the complacency we felt during the Obama White House era.

Your first DGB of this year is to resolve to keep grabbing back throughout 2019 and beyond, taking no freedom or democracy for granted.

New Year’s Resolution: Get Out the Vote

postcards1_1_18.jpg

Your DGB for today is to sign up with Postcards to Voters by texting “HELLO” to 484-275-2229.

Well, we made it through 2017. That was a… um… wow. That was nuts. Hopefully you’re not too hungover today, because we’re hitting the ground running with a renewed commitment to get out the vote. Postcards to Voters is a great resource. After texting, as mentioned above, “Abby the Address Robot” will ask you some questions and walk you through the steps to sending personalized messages to voters in key races.

Postcards to Voters has already had an impact in places like Alabama, where it helped propel Doug Jones to victory and flipped a deep red senate seat a lovely shade of blue. We have a good feeling about 2018, so dust off your gel pens and rolls of stamps and get ready to make a BIG difference.

Charity Miles

Your DGB for this weekend is to download the Charity Miles app.

We’re going to go out on a limb and assume two of your New Year’s resolutions relate to giving back and exercise. (We know, we’re just intuitive like that.) Well, earning money for worthy causes while walking, running, or biking checks off two self-improvement boxes at once. Our runners at DGB selected She’s the First as our charity, an organization helping girls become the first in their families to graduate high school through scholarships.

So, when even David Guetta can’t inspire you to literally go that extra mile, you’ll have a charitable reason to press on.

Make 2018 the Year of the Woman

12_27_17women.jpg

Your DGB for today is to make some of your New Year’s resolutions for 2018 woman-centered.

Many people have called 2017 the Year of the Woman, and with the #MeToo movement and Wonder Woman being one of the top grossing films of the year, it’s easy to see why. At DGB, we want to see 2018 even more woman-centered and we need your help to do that.

Make some of your New Year’s resolutions woman-centered, and what we mean by that is, support companies run by women, read more literature written by women in 2018, watch movies and tv shows produced by women, donate to charities run by women, support women running for political office - you get the picture. Think of as many ways as you can personally help build up women in your community and the world, and stick with those goals all year round. Give us some of your suggestions.

Grab back and support women in 2018.

A New Hope

2017: A New Hope Your first DGB for the brand, spanking new year of 2017 is to make a New Year’s Resolution to commit to doing Grabs for 30, 60, or 90 consecutive days. We truly appreciate all the hard work you Grabbers have been doing and we are seeing and feeling the impact, but with the upcoming inauguration and the healing this country is going to require after the heartache and loss of 2016, we are going to need you to Grab Back even harder than before. Gone are the days of slacking off on Grabs because you thought someone else was doing them. You will have to figuratively choke your oppressor with the chains they’re trying to bind you with. Rebellion will not be easy. Don’t assume 2017 is going to be the New Hope if you aren’t going to work to make it so. So we ask that you use the force and tack us onto your New Year's Resolution list and commit to 30, 60, or 90 days. It’s not like we’re asking you to marry us, just take us for a ride in your Millennium Falcon, help defeat the evil Emperor, and then see if you want to make a long term commitment, no biggie. It’s 2017 and we will not sit by and let the Empire take over. Commit to grabbing back for 30, 60, or 90 days as a New Year's Resolution. 2016 has taken so much from us, Grabbers, and to quote the late and great Carrie Fisher as Princess Leia, “you’re my only hope.”
