Protect Rosenstein

Untitled design (33).jpg

Your DGB for today is to contact your Representative and demand they protect Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein.

In the latest episode of Fuck Tha Police starring “The Party of Law and Order”, House Freedom Caucus Members have introduced a resolution to impeach DAG Rosenstein, intending to pave the way for firing Mueller and thereby halting the Trump/Russia investigation. https://www.cnn.com/2018/07/25/politics/rosenstein-impeachment-resolution/index.html

It’s imperative that we protect the Mueller investigation to its conclusion, and that requires protecting Rosenstein. Use Resistbot https://resist.bot or find your Reps’ contact info here: https://www.house.gov/representatives/find-your-representative.

And because this could just be an elaborate bit of political posturing, it is both appropriate and encouraged to publicly shame the authors of this bill, Reps. Mark Meadows and Jim Jordan.

Is the FBI Corrupt?

7-12FBIBias.jpg

Your DGB for today is to read about bias inside the FBI.

Are we talking about Lisa Page and Peter Strzok?

https://www.salon.com/2018/07/13/watch-stephen-colbert-re-enact-fbi-agent-peter-strzoks-insane-congressional-hearing/

Nuh-uh. You see, the hearings the House Judiciary Committee held today, in which Strzok’s testimony caused a congressional uproar, were an extension of the misinformation campaigns we saw extensively during the 2016 presidential election. If you undermine the institutions you use to your own corrupt benefit, you can head off any public mess by first accusing the other side of the same misconduct. You follow? Basically, there’s a good bit of evidence that the FBI worked against Hillary Clinton’s interests during 2016. If the GOP undermines the credibility of the FBI now, they can scream “fake news, corrupt institution” as soon as they’re culpable. We aren’t falling for this.

The following thread from Seth Abramson details a complex conspiracy (yes, there are conspiracies everywhere - this is our world now) involving an outlet called True Pundit. You may need to read through the thread a few times. We at DGB definitely did, as this is some crazy spy novel nonsense.

Combat Trey Gowdy with his unconvincing human skinsuit and all of his congressional grandstanding by arming yourself with knowledge.

Russia Sanctions

2-1RussianSanctions.jpg

Your DGB for today is to contact your representatives about enforcement of the Russian sanctions bill.

It doesn’t take a stable genius to see that Russia helped Trump win the 2016 election in exchange for some form of leniency with regard to U.S. relations, but even DGB staff didn’t think the administration would be so brazen about their Russian sympathies.

Even after Congress passed a sanctions package that was signed into law by the President, the Department of Justice has just unilaterally decided not to enforce it. Read the confusing justification for this here.

On top of this, it’s now being reported that at least one Russian spy official subject to 2014 sanctions had recent conversations with CIA Director Mike Pompeo, who again, warned afterward that Russia will continue to meddle in U.S. elections. But, hey, who needs sanctions, right?

There are a few ways Congress can handle the Executive Branch ignoring their will. Rolling over and taking this blatant disregard for their power as a branch of government, however, is not one of them.

Today, you’ll use Resistbot to pressure your members of Congress to take immediate action on this consolidation of power by Putin’s buddy.

Rachel Maddow and the Fake News That Almost Was

Your DGB for today is to watch this 21 minute clip from a recent episode of MSNBC’s The Rachel Maddow Show and then share it via social media.

On the July 6th episode of her show, Maddow describes how a “carefully forged” top secret NSA document was sent in to her tip-line website that seems to be a big, juicy scoop about who in the Trump campaign colluded with Russia to hack the 2016 elections. She outlines why she and her staff believe it is a fake, and she explains why someone might want her show to run this story, based on a ginned-up NSA document. Maddow believes that someone [insert chin rubbing emoji here] wants to discredit her show and the media in general as it pertains to the Russian election-meddling AND possible collusion by the Trump campaign in that effort.

After you’ve watched the clip and shared it far and wide, go ahead and tell Rachel what a great job she’s doing. The lady has been on FIRE since the election and we should tell her so: @Maddow on Twitter, rachel@msnbc.com via email, or:

The Rachel Maddow Show

Floor 4 West

30 Rockefeller Plaza

New York, NY 10112

(don’t forget we have downloadable postcards if you go the postal route)

Rachel wants other news organizations to be on the look-out for similar attempts to trick the media into reporting on false stories. And we want YOU to watch so that you can better understand what the media is up against when it comes to reporting on this administration. Now that it’s clear President Twitterthumbs has help in his campaign to discredit the press, we all need to be more awake than ever.

March for Truth

Your DGB for today is to prepare for the March for Truth taking place Saturday, June 3rd.

The March for Truth is a worldwide demonstration with a goal of a fair and impartial Russiagate investigation and for the “restoration of faith in our electoral system and the Office of the Presidency.” Organizers are calling for continued comprehensive congressional investigations in addition to the independent inquiry headed by Robert Mueller, and the release of pertinent financial documents, such as Trump’s tax returns.

The best way to get involved is to lace up your kicks and attend a local march. Find one near you on the official website or on our list of demonstrations.

You can also donate to the organization effort and find shareable graphics to promote awareness on social media.

Lastly, here you can find our printable protest poster.

Those Who Fail To Learn From History

Your DGB for today is to put into motion a repeat of US history.

The Executive Branch is barreling towards a foregone conclusion that our country has seen before. Many of us weren’t even a twinkle in our parents’ eyes during the Nixon administration, so here’s a quick Watergate rundown: Basically, Nixon tried to hang on to power for as long as possible by compounding his criminal acts and removing anyone who got too close to the truth about them. He didn’t actually fire his FBI Director. Louis Patrick Gray was complicit in the burglary coverup and his Assosciate FBI Director ended up being Deep Throat, which was pretty much the craziest thing that had ever happened in US politics until November 8, 2016. By the time Nixon’s dumpster of an administration was fully engulfed in the flames of scandal, the investigation was far enough along that a Special Prosecutor had been appointed. This man was Archibald Cox. When Nixon fired him in an event known as The Saturday Night Massacre, it was a public relations nightmare. Things really spiraled after that, and we all know the ending.

Today, you’ll change your profile picture on social media to the above image of Nixon, reminding everyone in your circle that history is doomed to repeat itself. Additionally, you’ll be sure to pressure your representatives to push for a special prosecutor. Trump will need someone else to fire soon, and we’re ready for his very own Archibald Cox to come onstage.

It’s not the crime that will get you, it’s the cover-up. And Trump’s cover-up is just as transparent and desperate as the original Crook-In-Chief. Just as America did during Watergate, we’re not letting him get away with any of it.
