The Resistance

If the Feds Come a Knockin’

Your #DGB for today is to print up some of these brochures and share them with your activist friends. Going green? Just share this Grab online.

This administration is, in a word, terrifying. They’re regularly abusing privileges and stomping on civil rights. It’s more important than ever that people know what those rights are. That’s where Center for Constitutional Rights comes in.

They’ve made a brochure in multiple languages for if a federal law agent comes knocking on your door. https://ccrjustice.org/if-agent-knocks-booklet We know Trump and his goons are keeping track of the resistance, as they demanded the IP addresses of millions of people who visited Trump protest websites. https://www.forbes.com/sites/thomasbrewster/2017/08/14/dreamhost-government-order-blasted-as-overreach/#27c0f3b34d5c We need to be extra vigilant and know our rights if the feds ever come a-knocking wondering just what DGB has been up to. Just grabbing, sir, nothing to see here!

So distribute these brochures in all the languages they come in and make sure your fellow resistors know their rights.

Anti-Protest Laws: Car vs. Pedestrian Edition

Your DGB for today is to find out if Republicans in your state are trying to pass laws protecting terrorists like James Field; and if they are, to call your lawmakers about it.

We are all still reeling from the events in Charlottesville, VA, especially the death of Heather Heyer and the injury of 19 others, who were all plowed into by a white supremacist terrorist with a driver’s license. When this method (vehicle-on-pedestrian) has been used by ISIS to kill and disrupt, politicians in the United States are lightning-quick to condemn. But, as we speak, GOP lawmakers in six states are actually trying to pass laws that actually protect drivers who hit pedestrian protesters. Yep. And if you are wondering what might motivate the “party of Lincoln” to do such a thing, look no further than the rise of Black Lives Matter and the anti-Trump resistance. Apparently the GOP doesn’t care if dissent gets mowed down in the street.

If you are a voter in Florida, North Dakota, North Carolina, Rhode Island, Tennessee, or Texas, get ahold of your state representative and give him or her a piece of your mind. If you aren’t in one of those states, you might still live in a state that is cracking down on protesting in other ways. Find out, and speak out. Peaceful protest should be protected and no one should lose their life because they chose to exercise their rights.

The Resistance is Female

Your DGB for today is to support or join the female organizers running the resistance, and to make sure you’re part of the future.

It’s not news that women, particularly women of color, are leading the resistance against Donald Trump. History has shown that women tend to be the ones leading revolutions, whether it be the French Revolution or the fight for Civil Rights in this country. Even DGB, and many other current ReSisters, are run solely by women.

So what we want you to do today is take the reigns. Check out your local Indivisible group (pssttttt 2/3rds are run by women.) If you don’t have a local indivisible group, form one. Want to go even further and actually make the world run by girls? Run for a local office! DGB loves Emily’s List, which supports and funds progressive women looking to lead the resistance. If you aren’t quite ready, check out their binders full of women running, put your money where your mouth is, and donate.

We already know the future is female, but what role are you going to play in it?

Onward Together

Your DGB for today is to sign up for Onward Together, Hillary Clinton’s new organization.

Evidently, Hillary wasn’t just hiking after the election. She’s just like us: she grieved, and then she got back to work. Onward Together is aiming to fund various progressive initiatives beginning with Color of Change, Emerge America, Indivisible, Run for Something, and Swing Left. (Maybe she’ll add DGB later? A girl can dream, right?)

If you can’t donate at this time, that’s okay. But, at least follow Hills on Twitter for updates @HillaryClinton. Hint: hers is the feed with complete sentences and zero fascism.

Support our National Park Service

Your DGB for today is to support our National Park Service (NPS) by doing at least one of the suggestions provided here.

The NPS is currently getting quite a bit of flak from the new administration. First, because they hurt Trump’s feelings by retweeting posts comparing the crowd sizes between Obama’s inauguration and Trump’s and then again because Badlands NPS went rogue on Tuesday and started tweeting facts about the environment after the administration placed a gag order on the EPA from tweeting about anything they are currently working on.

There have also been rumors that Trump and his current administration plan to open up drilling on federal land, as well as modifying some of the current National Monuments in the NPS.

What can we do to help? First is to donate money or join the NPS; you can give in your name or as a gift in someone's name. Second is to eat chocolate. Yes, you read that right. Order chocolate from the Trail Series by Salazon Chocolate and a portion of your purchase will go directly to preserving and protecting the National Scenic Trails, and lastly follow the National Park Service’s subversive unofficial twitter account that Donald Trump can’t touch @AltNatParkSer.
