The Virginia Sky Is Falling

At this point, a live look at Virginia politics would just be the vacuuming fire GIF.

Governor Ralph Northam dressed in blackface at least once. Should he resign, his successor would be Lieutenant Governor Justin Fairfax. Except he’s being accused of sexual assault. If we take out those two bags of trash, we are left with State Attorney General Mark Herring. Who apparently also appeared in blackface. We at DGB can’t even. We are all out of evens.

Your DGB for today is to tell all three guys they have to go.

See Monday’s Grab for Northam’s contact information.

Justin Fairfax’s is here.

And Mark Herring can be contacted here.

GTFO, Ralph Northam

Good Monday morning, Grabbers! DGB is back after a month-long hiatus! We promised you fresh hell in the first week of February and we, unfortunately, won’t disappoint today.

In case you were in an underground bunker over the weekend (which we honestly wouldn’t question at this point), it turns out Virginia’s Democratic governor is a racist. Don’t make us type it out, just read about it here.

Your DGB for today is to contact Ralph Northam’s office and demand that he resign.

Flip the House: Virginia

Your DGB for this weekend is to elect Virginia democrats to the House of Representatives.

All four Virginia districts holding elections for the House of Representatives in November are flippable, which is great news. Donate a dollar to each democratic woman below. If you can only donate to one campaign, DGB recommends Leslie Cockburn because we’ve never seen a candidate with a name so perfectly suited to being the theme of 2018 midterms/our new favorite verb.

District 2, Elaine Luria

District 5, Leslie Cockburn

District 7, Abigail Spanberger

District 10, Jennifer Wexton

Countdown to Midterm Elections: 18 Days

Swing a Local Election in Virginia

Your DGB for today is to familiarize yourself with Cheryl Turpin and help her get elected to the Virginia state legislature.

VA is holding a special election on January 10th, just 8 days away, and this is a great opportunity to help elect a progressive candidate to their state legislature. One especially competitive race that could turn a red seat blue is being fought by Cheryl Turpin. We at DGB are big fans of Cheryl. She is a mom, a teacher of 24 years, Girl Scout Troop Leader, a devoted member of the community, and someone who genuinely cares about making a difference. We encourage you to read about her here.

If you are a Grabber in Virginia, you should get to know the candidates on the ballot in this special election and volunteer to get out the vote in any way you can. Pound that pavement by canvassing!

If you are out of state you can still help by phone banking. Cold-calling can be a bit terrifying, especially if you’re like some of us and you absolutely hate talking on the phone. However, this is the kind of work we need to get comfortable doing if we’re going to elect more progressives to all levels of government. It’s up to us to pick up our phones and make it happen.

Select the volunteer opportunity that works best for you here or you can donate here.

This DGB has two grabs for the price of one: help turn a red seat blue AND increase female representation in politics.
